The dose for adults and children varies according to the medical condition and its severity. Dosage should be individualized according to the condition being treated and the patient’s response. In the management of cerebral edema: initial dose of 10 mg IV followed by 4 mg IM every 6 hours.
Reduced particle emission upon opening. Enamel flakes from the ceramic rings can no longer fall into the medication. Cleaner break appearance, reduced risk of sharp glass spikes when opening, reducing the risk of injury. Significant reduction in the risk of ampoules that are very difficult to open.
Evaluate the risks of adrenal suppression and other side effects before starting treatment. Monitor for signs of infection, as dexamethasone may mask typical symptoms. Use with caution in patients with renal insufficiency. Corticosteroid effects may be enhanced in patients with cirrhosis.
Monitor blood pressure, blood glucose levels and signs of osteoporosis during prolonged treatments. Caution in patients with diabetes, hypertension, latent infections and peptic ulcers. Contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections or hypersensitivity to any component of the product. Live virus vaccines are contraindicated in patients receiving immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.
