Dosage and Administration

  • For adults and adolescents over 15 years: 1g of Metamizole administered IM or IV.
  • The dose may be repeated every 6 to 8 hours as needed, not exceeding 4g/day.
  • For intravenous administration, inject very slowly, at a rate not exceeding 1 mL per minute.
  • OPC ampoules should be opened at a predetermined point, ensuring safer and more efficient opening.

New OPC Ampoules

  • Reduced particle emission upon opening. Enamel flakes from the ceramic rings can no longer fall into the medication.
  • Cleaner break appearance, reduced risk of sharp glass spikes when opening, reducing the risk of injury.
  • Significant reduction in the risk of ampoules that are very difficult to open.

Clinical Considerations

  • Use with caution in patients with a history of allergies to analgesics.
  • Monitor blood pressure during intravenous administration, as it may cause hypotension.
  • Avoid in patients with acute hepatic porphyria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, a history of metamizole-induced agranulocytosis, impaired bone marrow function, or diseases of the hematopoietic system.

Safety and Precautionary Measures

  • If symptoms of agranulocytosis occur, discontinue treatment and perform a blood count immediately.
  • Caution in patients with renal or hepatic disease.
  • Contraindicated in patients during the third trimester of pregnancy and in those with hypersensitivity to metamizole.
